Most website projects fail in the first two weeks, long before anyone opens a design tool. They fail because the team agreed to rebuild the site they already had, page for page, with better pictures. Six months later the traffic is the same, the enquiries are the same, and the only measurable change is that the logo is bigger.
We start somewhere less comfortable. Before we design anything we want to know which pages currently earn their place, which ones exist because somebody asked for them in 2019, and what your best customers actually needed to believe before they got in touch. That usually means reading your analytics properly, sitting in on a few sales calls, and interviewing four to six recent buyers. It is not glamorous work and it is the reason our redesigns move numbers.
Only then do we design. Every Ascio project gets original art direction — a type system, a colour system, a photographic or illustrative direction, and a motion language, all chosen for your business rather than pulled from whatever is currently popular. We do not buy themes, we do not resell layouts between clients, and you will not find a template pack behind any of the work in our portfolio.
The build is Next.js by default, statically generated, with images served as AVIF at exactly the size the layout needs. Core Web Vitals are treated as an acceptance criterion, not an aspiration: if a page does not hit a sub-second Largest Contentful Paint on a mid-range Android phone over 4G, it does not ship. Accessibility is handled the same way — WCAG 2.1 AA is part of the definition of done, tested with a keyboard and a screen reader rather than an automated scan alone.
You get the code. It lives in your repository, under your account, with no licence, no retainer requirement, and no proprietary page builder holding your content hostage. If you decide to move on from us, nothing about the handover is difficult, and we think that is the correct incentive for both of us.
If this is not quite the shape of your problem, the services overview compares all four engagements side by side, and the FAQ covers cost, revisions and code ownership.
